Hackney Schools' Gala Concert and Mayor's Music Award

Rushmore musicians are award-winning!

Well done to Cece and Pepa, who performed brilliantly at on Tuesday at the annual Hackney Schools' Gala Concert, at the Hackney Empire, with the Hackney Borough Youth Choir (HBYC). The Gala featured stunning musical performances from most of Hackney’s secondary schools, including many familiar ex-Rushmore students.

We were also very grateful as a school to receive the Geoff Taylor SEND Special Projects Award – the third year in a row that our music team (and all of our marvellous, musical children) have received one of the prestigious Mayor’s Music Awards. The award comes with funding for a wide range of new and intriguing instruments that will help to make class music lessons even more exciting and inclusive for all of our school community.

Hackney Borough Youth Choir are a brilliant borough-wide choir, rehearsing every Wednesday from 4.30-6.00 at Cardinal Pole School in Homerton.
